Finding the best SLR digital camera for you can be overwhelming. No matter your price range, the number of digital SLR cameras can be dizzying. Some have similar features, some have video, others are small, and some are big and bulky.

How do you pick the best SLR digital camera that’s right for you? Know the answers to these 5 questions and you’ll save a lot of time and money.

And even if the best SLR digital camera is out of your price range, you can take good pictures by knowing a few basic guidelines and some pro-level tips. Get them from “Shoot Digital Pics Like the Pros”.

To create a shortlist of the best digital SLR cameras, here are the top 5 things you should think about:

1. Budget

How much can you spend and look at cameras in that price range. Why waste your time oogling over the coolest features (like HD video) only to discover that it’s not in your budget? So once you’ve narrowed down your price range, he next thing to consider is…

2. What Do You Shoot?

What types of photos do you take – sports? kids? landscapes? portraits? You need to know this to figure out which features you need. If you’ll mainly be taking snapshots of your children in sports, you’ll probably want to have a fast shutter speed and continuous shooting. On the other hand, if you’re a landscape photographer, you’ll want a camera with a zoom lens and some filters.

3. Print or Digital Pictures

Do you print your photos. Do you make standard sized prints? Then you don’t need a ton of megapixels. But if you like to make poster sized prints, then you’ll need at least 10 megapixels. If you’re a digital photographer that shares online, then anything between 6 and 10 megapixels is fine.

4. Are You the Only Photographer in Your House?

Who else is going to use the camera? Kids, spouse, co-workers? Then you might want a simple to use camera. SLR digital cameras that offer automatic settings are easy for kids to use. Image stabilization is a good feature for newbies.

5. Are You a Serious Photographer?

Do you think your passion for photography will continue to grow? Then you might want a camera with semi-pro features so you can customize your shot taking.

Use this reference to make a list of the best SLR digital cameras for you. Then take a trip to your local camera store and hold each one. Pretend like your shooting and see how it feels. Do you like where the buttons are? Can you get to them easily. How’s the weight of the camera?

But don’t buy it from there. The prices are so much more expensive than they are online. Help support this site and buy your camera from SLR Digital Cameras.

When I started be more and more active in photography, I changed my Olympus compact (5050, if I am not wrong) versus a quite simple DSLR Canon 450 D – and it was a very good decision finally – cheap & compact, I started mastering light and composition with this camera only after a while, and for my very first shots buying a professional one would be much to much early :-) If ever this could serve as an advice – just start from simple models at the beginning :-)
