My friend ask me the other day why he should buy a digital SLR camera. And I realized I get that question a lot. Here’s my answer.
Interchangeable Lenses
Capture all 50 members of your extended family at the 10th annual family reunion. Capture the slide into second base – SAFE! of your little leaguer.
Faster Zoom, Shutter Release
When your daughter scores a 2 point with a kick to the head in karate, there is no shutter lag. When you star hockey player takes a shot on goal, you can manually zoom in an instant.
Fast Frames per Second
Capturing 3 to 5 frames per second will allow you to capture the moment the ball hits the bat or your swimmer touches the wall.
Accurate Auto Focus and Manual Focus
Some models offer true tracking focus for action shots so you can capture your bmx biker mid air.
No Face-Flash White Out Indoors
Digital SLRs are great at capturing those cute, small people doing cute small things, indoors. Without a flash. So they don’t look like ghosts.
Higher Quality Photos
Love to blow up that photo of the puppy and the baby napping? Get crystal clear extra large prints. Even 10 mega-pixel SLR cameras make fabulous jumbo prints.
Exercise Your Creativity With Accessories
Get the perfect zoom lens to capture the poppa bird at the nest. Or get an electronic flash with tilting head to bounce the light off the ceiling for a perfect birthday portrait.
And this was just a quick list I jabbered to my friend. For many of us, photography has become a hobby. Something we enjoy doing outside of work. Something that enriches our lives. Photography is lots of fun. And it seems like you can learn new thing all the time.

As a professional Wedding Photographer i have to say the importance should always be put more on the Glass than the body. If your going to invest into an SLR there are some great cheap options out there for camera bodys but do not skimp on the lens choice. And always, always learn to use your manual settings dont assume that a good camera means a good shot unless you know how to use it. Have fun people
