Online photography classes are a great way to improve your photography, fast. Many of them allow you to work at your own pace, offer guidance and support, and provide online forums to share your work and receive helpful critiques.

Skills Needed to Take Classes Online

Some people are concerned about the techie stuff needed to take online photography classes. Don’t be. If you can download your photos, upload them to an online file sharing location like Flickr,  and log into a website with a password, you have what it takes for an online class.

The important thing to remember is, the more you participate, the more learn. If your class offers personal critiques, use them. If there is a forum, participate in it. And most importantly… do the work in the class. Do the ‘homework’. Do the assignments. If you’re lucky enough to have tests or quizzes, take them. You’re paying for the class… get your money’s worth.

The great thing about online photography classes is the convenience. All you have to do is log in and you can be surrounded by experts.

Online Photography Class Recommendation

One of the best online photography classes is Proud Photography. What I like about it is you can work at your own pace. And it was written by award winning photographer Peter Tinko.

It’s an interactive class, meaning they encourage participation in the online forum. It’s great for the beginner to advanced beginner, but might be too basic for an advanced amateur.

Mistakes to Avoid

The only drawback is you must finish the lesson, including quizzes, before you can advance to the next lesson. So if you’re eager to get to the travel lesson, you’ll need to complete the prior lessons. The good thing is, the lessons are great, and interesting, and fun, and you can work at your own pace. So if work it really challenging this week, you skip the online photography class, and get back to it when your schedule opens up.

And it provides great value for the money. Classes at my local community college cost anywhere from $150 to $365. At less than $100, it’s a real bargain. And it offers a 1 year money back guarantee.

So check out Proud Photography and watch your photographs improve dramatically!
