SLR camera bags are a prime target for thieves. You know why? They look like SLR camera bags. A great way to avoid that, is to carry your camera in something else.
Two great options to use for SLR camera bags are the messenger type bag and the backpack. I think the backpack is better because sometimes messenger bags carry laptops. So the thief might wind up with your camera and your laptop.
Now if you use a regular backpack, you’ll have to make some adjustments to protect your camera. I like to throw an old towel in the bottom of the backpack and kind of nestle my camera down in the center.
You can throw a small towel in a messenger bag as well. And the beauty is, you probably have one lying around the house.
The other option is to by SLR camera bags specifically designed for cameras. They make both messenger camera bags and backpack camera bags.

That is actually a really good idea cause a thief always looks for expensive items like laptops, cameras, wallets, etc. So by hiding it inside of a backpack is a very smart idea.
And a smaller backpack won’t look like it has a laptop in it either.
